I would ailks to see what happens with Lily and Rule, but I’m just sort of “eh” about the plotlines. Never fear, however–there’s more to learn for all of us, including the main characters. Night of No Return. Cynna Lily Yu is attacked by a demon at her sister’s wedding and Rule gets more anxious than ever regarding her safety. Assaulted at her sister’s wedding, trying to come to terms with her Were mate, Rule Turner, the prince of wolves himself, and still trying to find the ever-elusive Reverend Harlowe The extent of the imagination used for this installment wipks astounding.


Each book in her World of the Lupi series gains a larger audience. At least, not for me. Interesting plot, good world building, introduction of some new characters that I really liked and want to see more of. I could see being skeptical if there was no evidence of even magic or magical beings, but she has all that and she still marches on heedless of those who try to tell her eileenn help her well until empirical evidence shows up right under her nose. They’re more politely referred to as lupi singular: I am looking forward to read the next one!

Was it all pointless, or was this a major step for Lily and Rule, a trial, of sorts, that will build them into the people they need to be for some major conflict coming up? In the second book in this series, Wilks added an annoying demon, who does grow on you.

View all 11 comments. I’m sorry, but Rule’s belief that the Lady must have taken a hand isn’t enough for me. I was partially correct because the second book had more action than the first one. I enjoyed that whole set-up quite a bit.

Lily was split in two souls, one dangerr in Dis with Rule in wolf form and the demon who was trying to possess her. I am also happy that Rule ends this story in a totally different state of mind. Other books classified as fantasy spend much more time on the romantic relationship than this series does. I’m going to shamelessly borrow a technique from my friend and buddy-reader, Mimi, and shorthand this as: It helps that all those explanations help us readers to understand the world better and there are many details sanger like in this world.


What are the consequences?

Lily could turn to the man she’s involved with for advice, mortap for all the passion that flares between them, she doesn’t really know Rule Turner–she’s just bound to him for life.
