Coatings should be visibly free from flow lines, streaks, blisters or other surface imperfections in the dry-film state on exposed surfaces when observed at a distance of 10 feet 3 m from the metal surface and inspected at 263 angle of 90 degrees to the surface. AAMA is the high-performance exterior specification.
These finishes exhibit outstanding resistance to humidity, color change, chalk, gloss loss and chemicals. An application for this finish would include monumental architectural projects and projects that require long-lasting aluminum surfaces. An application for this paint would be storefront, doors, or other high-traffic areas.
This finish will provide good color and gloss retention. It also will provide good hardness and abrasion resistance.

I am reading it right now had to buy the paperback off Amazon as this translation is not available on Kindle. Compared to the few other versions I briefly skimmed, I found Stone’s language more elegant and nuanced, and he leaves meticulous notes to help you understand the historical context.
But if you’re looking for no-frills, modern directness then this may not be the version for you. Well I’m currently reading it for school and I must confess I don’t find it as appealing as some may say. Don’t you think some of the letters are useless and slow down the interest of the narrative?

I was tempted to abandon it, but I persisted and am glad, for–although this epistolary novel of the last days of the ancien regime initially appears to be stylish but superficial–it soon grows in both subtlety and power.
Many of the difficulties of the book are perhaps inevitable in any work that chronicles seduction in epistolary form. The letters of the wicked are elegant, the letters of the good are viszonyik, but the letters of the naive and Dangerous Liaisons improves as it progresses. The letters of the wicked are elegant, the letters of the good are instructive, but the letters of the cgoderlos and innocent are by necessity simple and ingenuous, and their lack of awareness both taxes the patience and dissipates the interest of the reader, all the more so because they aggravate his sympathies and frustrate his moral impulses at the same time.
Moreover, once we accustom ourselves to the novel’s stylistic beauties, dee become aware that the other literary pleasures we receive from it are not only emotionally coarse and morally perverse, but also devoid of suspense, as we watch those who are invincible in wickedness debauch the defenseless and the good.
A third of the way through, however, we learn more about our depraved aristocrats, and our interest in the novel grows. We learn that the Vicomte de Valmont can enjoy a philanthropic pleasure while cyoderlos to appreciate its intrinsic value, seeing it merely as one step on the path of Madame de Tourvel’s seduction.
This makes him appear less innately evil, and thus–perhaps paradoxically–more thoroughly damned. Then, almost halfway through, the Marquise de Merteuil tells Valmont the story of her self-imposed “moral” education in emotional control and duplicity, and–although choferlos cannot bring ourselves to like her–we come to sympathize with any woman like herself, born with a commanding character and prodigious appetites, who must strive to vsszedelmes her respectability in a ritualized patriarchal society.
In the novel’s second half, the plot gets thicker, the dupes grow wiser, and the games that once appeared witty and decadent now seem pointless and destructive.
In the end, the lqclos veers sharply from the amoral choderrlos the moralistic, but keeps itself from plummeting into sanctimony by the absurdity of the punishments allocated for the wicked.
This formal resolution–like the endings of Measure for Measure and All’s Well that Ends Well –fulfills without satisfying, and therefore leads us to continue to question the moral lessons we already thought we had learned. It has been argued that the novel thus caught a doomed aristocracy distracted by decadent and libertine ways that would soon be its undoing.
The gift the novel’s main characters display for casuistry, calumny, prevarication and cynical self-involvement takes the breath away. Someone recently said to me that it is sad that people have stopped writing old-fashioned letters, being so much more personal and private than the frequently impolite, monosyllabic insults people tend to spit out on Twitter, Facebook and in various comment threads on the internet. I agreed, but continued to think about it, and all of a sudden, this epistolary novel came to my mind in all its passionate evil power.
Choderlos de Laclos certainly is a perf Oh the painful brilliance of these letters! Choderlos de Laclos certainly is a perfect example of the “good old times” that were not really better, and that featured the same hateful, jealous, treacherous, spiteful characters, happy to engage in intrigues choderos dangerous games with high stakes, always exposed to the threat of publication of written evidence.
Sex and power, twisted choderls and betrayal: In the end, they all pay the price for their vszonyok. There is one letter especially that reminds me of lacos teenagers thoughtlessly do today: The evil, jealous Marquise de Merteuil challenges her lover, the Vicomte de Valmont, to break up with a virtuous lady he has seduced as part of a cruel entertainment.
She writes the most horrible, yet eloquent letter imaginable, and the Vicomte copies it word for word and passes it on to Madame de Tourvel, the victim of the intrigue.
As expected by the Marquise, this breaks the tender woman. It has another victim as well, however. The Vicomte realises that he has grown choderloe love the lady he played with, and regrets his own cruelty when it is too late.
And this sets in motion a disastrous chain of events leading to the spreading of all letters relating to the scandalous behaviour of these representatives of the highest social layers in French society.
If you play vsizonyok the highest league of society, every secret you share is a potential liability, and that is just as true now as it was in the 18th century.
The famous letter in question repeats the typical excuse you will hear whenever a person in power behaves badly: I just reacted to my instincts and needs. But Choderlos de Laclos remains a classical author in one respect: None of the evil players of games is let off the hook. Once publicly exposed in their evil plotting, the main characters are punished. The veszedslmes letter is well worth reading in its entirety.
Cuoderlos contains all ingredients of a brutal public dumping of a faithful, caring lover, – out of boredom and satiation. Rarely has copy and paste cruelty been expressed in more beautiful language: Ce n’est pas ma faute. Adieu, mon ange, je t’ai prise avec plaisir, je te quitte sans regrets: Ainsi va le monde. Humanity is equally cruel nowadays, but what on earth happened to eloquence? View all 32 comments.

May the information that shapes our ever evolving practice integrate into every aspect of our waking life. Recently a few members of the community were inspired to share haikus inspired by their practice and their experiences in the teacher training program. If you are interested in writing one yourself, please share it prakritk the comments section below.
Heels root to the earth Spine long, chest wide, shoulders back Remember to breathe. Concerning Utthita Trikonasana triangle pose: Scraping the sludge away Allows me to see through the Heavy dark my heart — Kirsten Livingston. Each year at Karuna a new hour teacher training begins. Students embark on a rigorous journey, employing karuuna bodies, minds and spirits in a deep study of Yoga. The first questions asked for contemplation have a variety of answers, and those answers may change for prakriit over the course of their training or throughout years of practice.
The following questions are useful to contemplate and revisit for teacher trainees, teachers and student alike.
Joanna Caplan, a current teacher trainee, shares her thoughts:. How does the way you think and feel challenge the way you do yoga? Discuss and be succinct.
So what does this mean in practice? This past month, I have begun to establish a regular home asana, pranayama and meditation practice. My past ten plus years of a prakriri, on and off again asana practice rarely included a meditation component. Prakrjti fact, it had been a while since my mind and I had come to greet each other in this way. While meditation is an accessible and concrete practice, I have found it to be challenging and confrontational.
I find the above statement to be radical and liberating. Furthermore, if we think about peace in this way, as something we can find or acquire then peace becomes yet another sensation, like good and bad, pain and pleasure.
In relation to my asana practice, I have in fact found myself getting lost in the sensations of pain and pleasure. By the end of class, I want to feel a certain way, to be more calm, centered and peaceful.
Therefore, the feeling I get after finishing an asana practice is just that, a feeling. Now I am not discounting my asana practice. Rather, I am beginning to observe my patterns, my habits, my cittavrtti, and in these observations I am beginning to hear and approach an understanding of what Patanjali is articulating.
I think it is because the mind, in yogic philosophy, is multidimensional and dynamic. It is not one thing. I do, however, observe moments of connecting to something deeper, to something that goes beyond sensation, feeling and mind, to something completely effortless.
I think this is what Patanjali, Iyengar, Maharaj are talking about. I want my practice to be about surrender and release. I want my practice to remind me that I have never left myself, I am right here, deep, deep inside and all I have to do is listen.
She usually accompanies her mom to class and sometimes helps Eileen assist or gives the students eyebags while they settle into savasana. We have posted about her before, including a video of her singing the chant to Patanjali. Recently she helped out at the door for a Krishna Das concert. Anna wrote the studio to tell us this story:.
Afterwards the adult female, Julia, told me that Heidi led the class in complete seriousness, when Julia or the others would giggle or not stay focused Heidi would stand still and give them a deadpan stare until they collected themselves… she walked around them and adjusted their poses all the while.
When they would do something without her instruction she would apparently tell them to not go ahead and to await for her instruction: In our seeking, many of us find yoga- its goal is to deliver a spiritual practice that unites us with ultimate reality. Through the sutras, we learn that following the fundamental path of yoga requires us to disengage from the material world Prakriti because our spirit self Purusha has become entangled through the five afflictions kleshas.
According to Patanjali, we need to disentangle spirit from matter through constant, inner practice to purify body mind and spirit abhayasa and renunciation or non-attachment leading to spiritual surrender vairagyain order to truly know ourselves. By following the yogic path, we are provided with the means to awaken our authentic selves that lie beyond the order of nature and remain unchanging. As we began our teacher-training program, Eileen introduced us to a non-negativity diet, one way of taking a moment-by-moment inventory of how the various kleshas may be impacting our lives.
By noticing our tendencies to deny truth or our failure to be curious, we chose avidya. Through a competitive spirit, we demonstrate asmita, and through attachment to outcomes, possessions or even particular people, we align ourselves with raga. We demonstrate dvesa when we employ judgment, of ourselves and of others, and abinivesa when we place ourselves before others in an attempt to outwit death.
When we are not experiencing our true selves, we are entangled with the layers of unreality colorings of the mind. These are dual- aklistas are thought patterns that hamper us on our path to enlightenment and klistas are patterns that move us forward.
To observe the coloring of our thoughts is a useful practice. By noticing and acknowledging to ourselves that they are in fact, just thoughts, we can move to the next level of noticing if they are colored or not, positive or negative, serving us well, or not. According to Patanjali, ignorance creates all the other obstacles. We have it in our power to cultivate concentration and remove these obstacles to enlightenment.
We have the choice to end our own suffering through practice and renunciation. As we learn to detach from the outcomes of our work and focus simply, clearly and continuously, on the process, we can teach ourselves to notice without judgment and through these observations, we create the vehicle for change. The Buddhists teach that what we resist persists. When we practice with vairagya, we observe without resistance; we grow.

By noticing and contemplating on the kleshas prqkriti the form of a daily inventory, we begin the process of eradication. Prakritii the nature of all, including ourselves, is of Prakriti, we carry all the characteristics of nature gunas in various imbalanced ways. Our nature changes from one moment to the next, exposing us to the tendencies of sattva illuminationrajas passion and tamas inertia.
The gunas cause us to perceive the world in unbalanced ways. Hopefully, as we learn to quiet the mind, we will see more clearly with a heart that may be more trustworthy than the fickle distortions of the mind.

Karunx any case, the colorful klista sanskaras, the imbalanced state of the gunas and pprakriti kleshic tendencies are part of the human condition and the sutras provide us with a means of comprehending and a vehicle for transcendence.
This past month the yoga teacher trainees at Karuna were assigned to read the Bhagavad Gita. In preparation for the workshop taught by Satyanarayana Dasa at Karuna a few weeks ago, students were asked to answer the following questions:. How is work transformed into worship?
Why does the Gita peakriti many alternative paths of practice? What are the obstacles to the recognition of divinity in each of us? She also teaches anatomy at Karuna.
This is her response. Before I answer these questions, I feel that I must honestly say how much I have struggled with reading the Bhagavad Gita.
Unlike most of what I have been exposed to in this training, I do not feel aligned with much of what I have been reading. I have sought out different translations and tried listening to a recording.
It feels wrong to me that the conclusion of the lesson that all of our experiences are an illusion is that Arjuna should go ahead and kill his friends pakriti family members.
Just as the Bible was written by men not by Godthis text also seems to have been written down by men and contains their inherent and cultural biases. Karma is one of kwruna words that seems to be frequently misused.
These impressions, carried in latent form into our next life, determine our future temperament and destiny. Without that concept, the ideas in the Gita would overwhelm me.
If everything flows back to the divinity, if there is one God responsible for everything I experience, then why should I bother to act? Why would my actions matter? This question is harder for me to understand. I believe that the Gita tells us that we need to do our worldly work, we need to persist in action, but that we need to do so without attachment. When I translate that into my own situation, here is my interpretation: I work with very challenged children in very challenged families and social situations.
If this is truly my work which I am still trying to figure outit is correct for me to do my work as opposed to staying home and praying and doing yoga or watching TV all day! But it is incorrect for me to expect or become attached to the outcomes, to changing the children or the families, or to improve or take them out of their situations.
This thought is comforting to me, because work can get caught up in so many struggles of the mind — am I paid enough? Am I appreciated enough? Can I get health insurance? Am I passionate about my work every day? Making a shift to fix my heart on the divinity through the work day is a good strategy to escape all these thoughts which, in truth, are NOT my work.
Even though I have been working on reading this work since last month, I guess I have not read or understood enough to really take in that this is what the Gita is doing. I was able to learn from searching for more information that three of the paths are considered Karma Yoga selfless actionBhakti yoga devotion and Jnana yoga self transcending knowledge but this is not what I learned from the reading that I did.
I imagine that the reason for multiple paths is because there is so much complexity in the relationship between personhood and the divine; each path perhaps provides a unique set of lessons or lens through which to understand the path as well as the destination which is the same for all three paths.
I understand the Gita to be saying that there is only one God, that everything is the Godhead. The solution to this is discussed in the Gita as well as in the Sutras: My image for the samskaras is like an Etch-A-Sketch, and there are some pathways very clearly marked.
The purpose of our practice is to create the potential for all the pathways to be available to us equally all the silvery Etch-a-Sketch coating to be removed so that we can act based on what is the best choice for our Karma and not simply as dictated by our samskaras. Lists with This Book. Incredibly skewed view of the Cultural Revolution.
If you don’t know anything selvatick the Cultural Revolution, it will give you a bare-bones outline in breathless text, but don’t view it as a definitive work. I am from China, so my perspective is not looking at exotic culture, but trying to read for enjoyment. I rate this book one because it is tedious, the structure is plain chronically threading.
When it come to the describe of herself, her life, I can’t help but feel the self-promotion self-boasting. I like to read good fiction, or good biography, what is this? It recites in detail of her grandmother a I am from China, so my perspective is not looking at exotic culture, ckgni trying to read for enjoyment. It recites in detail of her grandmother and mother’s lives, but when it come to herself, there was hardly any deep thinking or for us to see how the person developed.
I can only class this as a caricature of Chinese women for the entertainment of westerners. Ok I got it, she hates Chairman Mao because she blamed him for her father’s downfall and subsequently her own falling from a Princess surrounded by servants and admirers to a “black kid”.
There are plenty in China suffered in the hands of these ruthless bureaucrats, lots of them died.
Cigni selvatici: Tre figlie della Cina
I couldn’t xelvatici the book. And there are only few books I haven’t manage to finish. Because it lacks something very important – a spark! I love books who can capture my attention the moment I open the first page and keep me interested till the end.
This one is not one of them. It took me a lot of patience and willpower to keep going to the moment I couldn’t do it anymore.
I have to agree with some of the comments that the writing is “dry”. Yes, it is dry and boring, and chaotic except for I couldn’t finish the book. Yes, it is dry and boring, and chaotic except for the first cgini – the story of Chang’s grandmother. I don’t think that this book should be regarded as a representation of a historical period, more likely as selvafici fiction with a biographical element.
It is hardly a serious historic book, which can describe this period objectively. Because this period is the contradiction itself.

I noticed that there are elements of reversed propaganda at the beginning of this book and that was the first selvatii, which put me off a little bit. The author describes her life in China as a hardship; and then again when she goes to UK, everything changes for the better. I don’t pretend to know what was it during the Cultural revolution or before selvatidi. The fact is that she went to study in Europe. The chance to do so speaks for itself.
Honestly, I regret buying this book! This is the story of three generations of Chinese women in the 20th century. Ah, the makings of a great novel. Alas, her story is given the short shrift.
Mostly, our story cignii on the author and her mother. With them, we learn all about Mao and the Cultural Revolution.
A lot abo Wow! A lot about Mao. I am not surprised that this book has been banned in China. More than anything else, it is an anti-Mao book. Now that you know that, you can probably understand why I was not thrilled with this book. It took the entire month of August to get through this one. My apologies to the 2 very intelligent women who said this is the best book ever.
This was as dull as the grey or blue uniforms the communists wore throughout the book. It was a chronology of misery and submission.
China’s modern history is filled with repression and aelvatici agony. So was the book. I skipped the middle pages hoping for something other then misery No wonder there was no unemployment – everyone was a spy, a prison guard or in charge of reeducation meetings. I cannot recommend this book to anyone unless you are a real student of Chinese history. Stopped on page Read for book club. I really try hard to read any book suggested by the ladies of my club!
This was such a slog fest though, I couldn’t finish it. Too much history and all written like a history text. I want the story, put me there with the women and the emotions. While the details did tug my heartstrings like the woman sold as a concubine who had to fear the servants it was so depressing that I didn’t see the point in having to read all the extra unnecessary dates and facts Stopped on page While the details did tug my heartstrings like the woman sold as a concubine who had to fear the servants it was so depressing that I didn’t see the point in having to read all the extra unnecessary dates and facts just to be depressed!
In actuality, the narrative focused more on the formation of the Communist Party, the Cultural Revolution, and the brutality of the Mao Zedong regime. The most interesting character in the book is the grandmother. The last selvatiici of Chinese women to have their feet bound, she displays dignity, gentleness, and love through all the adversities of the time.
The book was selvxtici long It was like utter torture to read. To have any clue of what was happening, you needed to keep a running family tree of an extremely complex family going, just to keep track of names. The descriptions and overall feel of the book were very cold and emotionless, resulting in myself really not caring for the characters or the outcome of the book.

Yes it is very informative and the facts and lifestyles that are explained are very important and we should we aware of this history but it is just so dull.
I was skipping pages, my mind was wandering mid sentence and eventually I just couldn’t take anymore. Too many ‘characters’ real people selvafici keep up with and too many sections of boring history with no story to liven it up.
I feel like such a loser.
I just couldn’t read this book. I find the subject material so facinating, but couldn’t stand all the violence.
I’m feeling pretty wussy and like I can only read fairy tales.
